U_BOAT U-107 Type 9 IXB

This home made model was made by a veteran of U_107 living in South Australia. For its age it was in very good condition and only needed a clean and minor repairs.

German submarine U-107 was a Type IXB U-boat of Germany's Kriegsmarine that operated during World War II. Between January 1941 and August 1944, she sailed on 13 active patrols at a time when a U-boat averaged a lifespan of seven to ten patrols. During that time, U-107 sank 39 Allied ships and damaged four, before being sunk with all hands on the 18th of August 1944. the crew member who made this model was one of the crew that was rotated for leave before the final patrol.

           4 Aces - U-107

This lucky emblem was made famous by being put on the equally lucky U-107 by KrvKpt. Günther Hessler after he commissioned her, and it was thus displayed on the most successful U-boat patrol of the war.

Kptlt. Volker Simmermacher took a variant of this emblem to U-3013 when he left U-107. The same variant was also seen on U-3006, Oblt. Ludo Kregelin.

Oblt. Heinz Robbert, another officer from U-107, also chose this emblem when he took command of U-3040 in early 1945.
